A Conversation About the Future: Robotics Careers in Singapore

After a trial class, a parent pulled us aside and asked, “Is robotics really useful? Are there real job opportunities for my child here in Singapore?”

It’s a fair question—and one we hear often. We shared what we’ve seen and know: Singapore is now the world’s second-most automated country, with 730 robots for every 10,000 workers. The government’s S$450 million National Robotics Programme shows how serious they are about growing this sector.

STEM is becoming a bigger part of school life, and further down the road, students have strong options—places like NUS, SIT, and polytechnics such as Ngee Ann and Republic Poly all offer robotics and automation courses.

At STEM GENIUS CODING AND ROBOTICS ACADEMY, we focus on real-world learning. Our students build and code robots that tackle practical problems. Along the way, they develop teamwork, creativity, and confidence.

We also encourage them to join competitions like the National Robotics Competition (NRC) and FIRST LEGO League (FLL). These experiences not only boost their skills, but also strengthen their Direct School Admission (DSA) applications.

More than just results, we told the parent that we believe in walking this journey together. Helping a child grow takes teamwork, and we’re here to partner with parents to bring out the best in every student.

By the end of our chat, the parent smiled—feeling hopeful and excited about what lies ahead.

If you’re thinking about your child’s future too, we’d love to explore it with you—through the world of robotics.
